Merry Berry

In my opinion, a smoothie is so much more than blended fruits. It’s an art of using different elements blending perfectly together and using different toppings to amp up the flavours and the textures. For smoothies, frozen fruits are the best. It blends up thicker than fresh fruits but depending on your liking, you can use fresh fruits for a less thick smoothie. It takes only less than 10 minutes to make this delicious and refreshing smoothie.

Having smoothies after a workout is great, not just because they are portable but also endlessly customizable and gives you a boost without making you feel overly full. This smoothie, in particular, has so much to offer to replenish your body after a workout. The banana provides potassium and healthy carbs to help refuel your muscles while the berries offer antioxidants. The milk and yoghurt offer protein to support energy production and muscle development. Also, feel free to add your powdered protein into any smoothie to make the shakes more enjoyable. After all, your protein shakes do not have to be bland anymore! Click here to check out my blog for easy smoothie ideas.

In this smoothie, I used three types of berries along with pink pitaya and banana as the base. Can anyone ignore the pink hue in this smoothie? Then I topped up the smoothie with mango, blueberries, blackberries, dried goji berries and goji berry powder. If you have not figured already, since the day I started adopting into a plant-based diet, smoothies are my go-to breakfast. So, I buy bags of mixed frozen berries and always have a compartment of my freezer full of them.

Ingredients;

1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen blackberries
5 -6 frozen strawberries
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen pink pitaya
1/2 plant milk (for a thicker consistency, add yoghurt)

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the smoothie into a glass or shaker and enjoy!
